Rehearsal Times and Locations
The String Philharmonic, with Julie Funchion conducting, rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:45 pm at Washington Middle School, 3100 Cain Rd SE, Olympia. Students should arrive at 5:50 pm to ensure they are set up, tuned and ready to begin.
The Junior Symphony, with Joe Sokolik conducting, also rehearses on Monday evenings at Washington Middle School from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Students should arrive at 5:50 pm to ensure they are set up, tuned and ready to begin.
The Youth Symphony, with Robert Pendergrast conducting, rehearses from 9:30 to Noon at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Olympia's west side. The address is 1515 Harrison Ave NW. Students should arrive at 9:20 am to ensure they are set up, tuned and ready to begin.
Dress Rehearsal Times and Locations
Dress rehearsals are at the SPSCC PAC instrumental music room on the Saturday before each concert: November 21, 2009, March 6, 2010, and May 22, 2010. The String Philharmonic from 9:00 am to 9:50 am; the Junior Symphony rehearses from 10:00 am to 11:50 am; and the Youth Symphony from Noon to 2:00 pm.
Dress for Concerts
Junior Symphony and String Philharmonic
- Ladies: Floor length black skirt, long sleeved white blouse, black hose and black shoes.
- Gentlemen: Black slacks, white shirt, black bow tie, black socks,and black shoes. No jackets please.
Youth Symphony
- Ladies: Floor length black dress with sleeves, or floor length black skirt and tucked in black blouse with sleeves. No low front or low back necklines. Black hose and black shoes.
- Gentlemen: Black tux or suit, white shirt, black bow tie, black socks, and black shoes.
Sick or Need to Miss a Rehearsal?
If you cannot attend a rehearsal due to illness or emergency, please contact your conductor and leave a message as soon as you know you cannot attend. If you do not call before 4:00 pm, the conductor will not get the message in time.
Please plan to attend all rehearsals unless you are sick or have an emergency. Your orchestra depends on you to play your instrument at every rehearsal, so that the conductor can help all of the musicians play well together.
